Keeping Parsky’s operations hidden from CRP
Parsky Watch #17

July 22, 2002

ENRON, WORLDCOM…AND GERRY PARSKY?

A few days ago, Gerry Parsky sent the following e-mail plea to the CRP Board (we modestly assume he’s referring to past Parsky Watches exposing his incompetence):

Dear Fellow Directors of the California Republican Party:

At a meeting held in Washington in June at the Republican National Committee, all stakeholders in our efforts to fund the gubernatorial campaign and our Republican nominees agreed to raise funds, but defer spending decisions pending the coordination of the Simon campaign, the Republican National Committee and our CRP Cal Plan political processes. To date, this coordination is still in process. We are awaiting final decisions from the Simon campaign and the RNC in order to determine how funds should be spent. However, Team Cal has already raised more money this year than ever before.

Despite this progress, I wanted to call your attention to certain ongoing correspondence that is disturbing because it discloses confidential financial information and politically sensitive decision making. Even after Chairman Steel met with Secretary Shannon Reeves, who urged restraint, the Chairman apparently made wide distribution of his June 12th letter marked "Confidential", as well as blind copies of Operating Committee minutes.

Further, several unsigned emails have referred to the June 3 Operating Committee meeting as the source for much financial data and internal political plans.

In light of this, I recommend that the Board consider the potential damage to the coordinated political effort we are implementing on behalf of Bill Simon for Governor. If you agree, please consider a Board resolution to stop these divisive actions. Please also consider requiring that Operations Committee conference calls be kept confidential unless the Board determines that certain information be made public, and direct Ryan Erwin to implement this decision.

It is understood that in politics there is a certain amount of artful (and sometimes personal) discourse. However, I believe that we, as a Board, should be the judge if any particular discourse negatively affects our Party's nominee and hurts the chances of all Republicans.

Best personal regards,
Gerry Parsky

So Parsky wants less transparency in CRP operations? Why not? Look what transparency has done to WorldCom and Enron executives. Nobody wants a bright light shone on their misconduct, utter failure or incompetence – all of which have pockmarked Parsky’s tenure as shogun of the California Republican Party. It’s like sunlight to vampires.

By the way, on Thursday the Board passed a resolution to close the coffin lid on party operations, the better to shield Parsky’s mismanagement from the sunlight.
