"…I am very thankful to Gerry Parsky…” - Feinstein

SPEAKING OF OPERATING IN SECRECY…

The Parsky Commission has reared its ugly heads again recently. Gerry may be mismanaging state GOP operations, waiting for that magic moment when he is actually willing to take some action and spend the campaign funds he is hoarding (we’re hoping that moment actually occurs before Election Day).

But we digress.

In a recent story about the Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation of President Bush’s nominee for U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California, the Los Angeles Daily Journal reports how Sen. Dianne Feinstein took a moment to wax effusive about her good friend Gerry Parsky:

“I'm very proud of the functioning of our screening panel, and I'm very thankful to Mr. Gerry Parsky for suggesting it, putting it together, monitoring it and overseeing it," Feinstein said.

The senator cited "complaining in the press" over the work of the Parsky committee but insisted that the screening panels had taken "partisanship out of the process" of helping the president fulfill his constitutional duty to nominate qualified federal judges.

“It is alive. It is well. And it is working, I think, in a fine way," she said of the California screening committee.

Well, we’re certainly reassured that liberal Democrat Dianne Feinstein is happy with the commission – the same Dianne Feinstein who has been torpedoing Bush judicial nominees while stating that Bush’s narrow victory disqualifies him from being free to choose his own nominees. So much for taking the "partisanship out of the process."
