Washington worried over Parsky problems Parsky Watch #41
April 17, 2003
WHO’S THE BOSS?
Word on the street is Mindy Tucker, is coming to California to “help” with coalitions and communications in preparation for the President’s re-election campaign.
Tucker, as our in-the-know PW readers are aware, is a Bush Administration media relations star – press secretary for Bush-Cheney 2000, director of public affairs for AG John Ashcroft, and currently RNC communications director.
Hat does this move mean? Certainly, it is a strong indication that the Bush team means to vigorously fight for California’s electoral votes. Why else would they send out a campaign heavy-hitter of Tucker’s caliber?
It also means the Bush White House’s oft-stated confidence in Gerry Parsky is ebbing. After all, if Gerry is indeed the all-capable operative who is totally focused on the President’s re-election and has everything well in hand, why send out Mindy Tucker to “help?’
And does anyone think Gerry Parsky and his planet-sized ego can stomach being “helped” by an outside professional who is more his superior than his peer?
It’s obvious to PW that Tucker’s dispatch to the Golden State is confirmation that after more than three years of Parsky’s disastrous leadership, no one in California Republican politics can stand, trust or deal with him.
