9th Circuit and Recall; no thanks from Parsky/Boxer Parsky Watch #52
October 3, 2003
DING DONG – THE WITCH ISN’T QUITE DEAD
Like all of you, it’s difficult to wrench one’s mind away from the recall election, but the recent 9th Circuit Court roller coaster causes us to raise the subject of – who else – Gerry Parsky.
Like a parasite departing its exhausted host organism to search for a healthier replacement host, Parsky – as most of you already know – recently resigned his California Republican party positions to “devote” himself to President Bush’s re-election effort in California.
Color us ecstatic.
But before you break into a chorus of “ding-dong, the witch is dead,” we must caution that the corpse is still twitching.
We’re referring to Parsky’s partnership with Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer in choosing federal district court judges via the eponymous Parsky Commission.
What’s the big deal, you might ask? After all it was a federal appeals court panel, not a district court, which delayed the recall.
True, but district judges grow up to be appeals court judges. Case in point: ultra-liberal Justice Richard Paez, a member of the three-judge panel that issued the lunatic decision to delay the recall.
Prior to being elevated to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals by Bill Clinton, Paez had been a federal district judge since 1994. Those whose memories stretch back a few years remember it was Parsky’s judge-picking partner Dianne Feinstein who championed Richard Paez nomination to the U.S. District Court back in the early 1990s. Even then, Paez’ reputation as a liberal activist – particularly regarding law-and-order issues -- was so notorious that it became an issue in Feinstein’s nasty and narrowly-won re-election battle with Michael Huffington.
Not even we would suggest Parsky’s bears any culpability for three-judge panel’s moronic decision. However, he is responsible for making common cause with Feinstein and Boxer in populating the federal judiciary in these parts – two flaming liberals who delight in nominating Paez clones, stymieing judges in the Alex Kozinski mold while filibustering the appointment of much needed conservatives likes Carolyn Kuhl to the 9th Circuit.
In effect, by continuing his collaboration with Feinstein and Boxer, Parsky is actively participating in the continuation of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals as an judicial asylum for the lunatic Left.
And as the recent antics of the 9th Circuit prove, the consequences of that are very real, and very dangerous.
