In the Beginning Was Gerry
Parsky Watch #65

July 26, 2004

IN THE BEGINNING WAS GERRY

Those who heard Gerry Parsky speechifying at a Republican Party of Orange County “summit” last month were struck by how often he could jam phrases like “President Bush and I,” “the President called me” or “President Bush asked me,” me, me, me, me, me. At least, those of you who didn’t prudently decide to use Gerry’s mike time to return phone calls or answer nature’s call.

That disaster was yet further proof that Parsky no matter what roles Parsky undertakes for the party, the president or a combination of the two, it’s always all about Gerry.

So why fight it? Why not just codify it into GOP rituals involving Gerry? Since he’s going to inject his solipsistic personality into his every endeavor, why not start of each Parsky appearance with this solemn invocation, calling to mind Parsky’s indispensability:

In the beginning was Gerry, and Gerry was with the Party, and Gerry was the Party.

The same was in the beginning with the Party.

All things were made by Gerry; and without Gerry was not any thing made that was made.

In Gerry was life; and the life was the light of Republicans.

And the light shineth on conservatives; and conservatives comprehended it not.

There was a man sent from Gerry, whose name was Bill Back.

Bill came for a witness, to bear witness of Gerry, that all men through him might believe.

Bill was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of that light. Gerry was the true Light, which lighteth every Republican that cometh into California.

Gerry was in the Party, and the Party was made by him, but the conservatives in the Party knew him not.

He came unto the conservatives, and the conservatives received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons and daughters of Parsky, even to them that believe on his name: And Parsky was made Chairman of the Operating Committee, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of Bush/Cheney California) full of grace and truth.

Maybe we’re on to something.
